Kindness

What makes you feel loved? Doesn't it make you feel special when someone goes out of their way just to show you that they love you? It could be anything, little, big, large or small...

Start with those around you--your family! Take the time and look for ways to make them smile. Study them, their likes and dislikes. Life is short and your family may not always be within a huggable distance. They may live with you now, but chances are that won't last forever. The past is gone, and the future isn't here yet...but we have today. Make the most of it!

When was the last time you practiced random kindness?

"love is kind..."

"Praise the LORD, my soul.
LORD my God, You are very great;
You are clothed in splendor and majesty."

Mommy

As I was thinking of a verse to use this one came right to mind;

"Instead whoever wants to be great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave--just as the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve, and  to give His life as a ransom for many." Matthew 20:26-28

Mommy, thank you for living this verse. And I can't seem to find the right words to adequately express how much I love having you as my mother, and how much I learn from just watching you.

And I would say "someday I want to be just like you...", but you've pointed me further than that. You've shown me by your example that to imitate Christ is the highest calling in life. And that I should strive for nothing short of that.

I love you.

Florida Wedding

The actual reason I went to Florida was not to swim in the ocean, ride the waves, pick oranges, soak in the sunshine, see palm trees, etc. The real reason was to attend this wedding and make sure that all the bridesmaid dresses fit the girls! :)

When Kori asked me to sew her bridesmaid dresses I was delighted! What a treat. She had a dress that she bought that she really liked, but there was no pattern close to it...so then came the fun challenge of designing a pattern.

She was one of the least stressed brides I've ever seen! Due to the fact that 5 out of the 8 bridesmaids lived far away from me the dresses weren't done months ahead of time. We were down to the wire on some of them, but she was never anxiously peering over my shoulder as I sewed. She always had a sweet smile and encouraging attitude. I was stressing out way more than she was! Kori, it was a total joy to sew for you:)

The absolutely stunning bride!!

Another reason for going to this amazing wedding was to do hair! I love to do hair and was thrilled to do all the Wissmann girl's hair.

The week before the wedding we hustled Kori into the bathroom, turned on some soft music, plugged in the curling iron, gave her a foot/hand massage and I played around with her hair. The end result was breathtaking. The soft curls pulled back from her face...ahh!! And I think she liked it too because she canceled her hair appointment at the salon and I was set do the hair of my first bride!!

Here is a side/back view

Here is just the back

We started around 10 am and finished up at 2:30:) Nicole kept curling, and curling, and curling. And I kept pinning, and pinning, and pinning and pinning. We went through an insane amount of bobby pins:)

All the bridesmaids were stunning...but I was quite partial to the style Elizabeth chose. Loose curls swept into a side knot of curls, it became her perfectly!

The flower girls were just too adorable...and I loved their flower balls!

Here you can see a little bit of the bodice on the dresses. It was a crossover style with pleats and raglan sleeves. The perfect dress for a Florida wedding!

Hannah and Susanna were the perfect guestbook attendant duo. And they were so patient with me, as they kept getting pushed to the end of the line as I was trying to get the bridesmaids ready for pictures! :)

Rachel in all her snazzyness!

All of them together!

And I just had to throw this picture in here...because I like it! It's the head table at the reception. Seriously, I so wish I was the worlds most talented photographer so I could have taken pictures to show you how incredible this wedding was! It was breathtaking, beautiful and God honoring! I loved every bit of it!

Guess where I am?

Virginia!! Yep, that's right!

And I'm here for longer than just a short visit! I'm here for two whole months! Actually it's less than that now...I just haven't blogged to tell you about it till now. There are actually a whole lot of things that I want to share with you, and I'm hoping to get some of that done this week!

But you're probably wondering why I'm living in VA with Dan and Bethany for 2 months? Well let me tell you;) When I was out here in February Bethany took me on a tour in the building where she and Dan both work. We were chatting briefly with her supervisor and she mentioned that their busy season was coming up and they were going to need some extra help and "would I like the job?"  Live with Dan and Bethany for 2 months, work full time for HSLDA? How could I say no? So I took the job and less than a month later here I am. Though I miss my family/friends back home I am enjoying this special season and opportunity that God has placed in my life!

"Show me Your ways, LORD,
teach me Your paths.
Guide me in Your truth and teach me,
for You are God my Savior,
and my hope is in You all day long."
Psalm 25:4-5

I love water

Florida + friends + water + waves + sun = A Wonderful Day!

"How precious to me are Your thoughts, God!
How vast is the sum of them.
Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand..."
Psalm 139:17-18
