I am the kind of person that when I buy something new, say a bunch of fabric, I bring it home and set it on the floor so I "can admire my purchase". After it has sat there for about a week I realize that I probably should put it away. The problem is that I don't really have a specific place for it...so I stuff it in my closet.
Consequently my whole sewing room has looked like a total mess for about a year and a half. Now you may think that I never was able to find anything...but that is not the case. Even though it looked like everything was all over and that I didn't know where anything was, I really did know where everything was...nobody else did...but what did that matter...*smile*
My mother has never really been happy with "my way of organizing"...or lack thereof, and she would always tell me "a place for everything and everything in its place." I have always wanted true order, but it seemed to daunting of a task, so I kept putting it off. Until...God started to work in my heart on the area of order. It seems that He always picks something that I am terrible at and says "work on this."
Thus began my project on Organizing My Life. *smile*
So I made a list of all the area's that I needed to work on...My time, money--I will take this opportunity to brag about my amazing computer...yes, it's a MacBook Pro...BEST EVER!!! And I have this little program called Numbers...and to keep this bunny trail short I will just say it has totally changed my view of keeping a budget and good records!! And not to be redundant but...my computer is AMAZING. Enough said---clothes, musical props and costumes, my sewing room, and the list goes on for a while;)
I will say that once I got started...it's hard to stop. De-cluttering is SO rewarding!! And to see all the musical props and costumes stacked in bins waiting to be used (instead of all over the house waiting to be lost) is a very refreshing sight indeed.
Anyway...my sewing room, since I use it constantly, was towards the top of my list. And so I started...
This is a nice picture of what my closet looked like before...
I realized that I had a LOT of patterns...don't even ask how many;)
Doesn't that look refreshing?!!
It is a joy to sew in, and since "there is a place for everything" it makes cleaning up a whole lot easier!
"But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way."
