Totally random

For some reason this picture just made me laugh!  And so I thought I would share it with you.  Yes, I know, kinda random...but everyone needs a random picture in there life...so here's yours!

Also another thing, if you want to see some absolutely DARLING pictures of my lil' babies head over here to my amazing sis'-in-law's blog!  I haven't taken any pictures of them recently and I know you are all dying to see their wonderfully cute faces so...wait no longer:)

And here's a verse for you to meditate on;

"Power belongs to You, God,
and with You, Lord, is unfailing love;
 and, You reward everyone
according to what they have done."
Psalm 62:11b-12

Being an Aunt is wonderful!

Caleb had to come over to do some car work with Dad, and Elise being a total "Daddy's girl" came along!

Walking hand-in-hand, swinging them round and round, showing them how to do things they've never done before, giving lots of kisses and getting lots in return, snuggling with them, chasing them, watching as they discover new things, answering a gazillion questions as to what things are...and why they are that way...and then when they get fussy or terribly naughty, why you send 'em right back to their mommy...*smile*

Yes, I love being an Aunt!

And my sister has got to be the "worlds best Aunt"...EVER!

And most of you will never have her to be an Aunt for your kids...but she'll be one for mine!!!  And yes, I do realize how luck I am:)

Completely adorable!

Brothers--part 1

Yep, he's my brother!  And I get to go visit him in just 34 days!!

Brother's are wonderful.  But you've heard me say that before.  And I won't bore you with how much I love them or all the advantages to having lots of brothers...and there are lots of advantages.  *smile*

We all want our brothers to be just that; a brother.  We want them to be one we can talk to, laugh with, spend time with, share those treasured moments, tease them and be teased right back, go on adventures with...we want them to be our protector, confidant and friend.  And at least for me, I want them to be a gentleman one minute and my best 'pal' the next.  We have such high expectations for them.  But let me ask you, and myself, this question; what are we doing to support that?

A relationship is a two-way deal, and a sister can benefit her brother in many ways...words, actions, etc. (And believe me, I pray all the time that God will show me how I can be a better sister...and I am telling all this to myself as much as to you!)  But I think one of the most essential ways is through prayer.

Do you pray for your brothers?   Lately God has really been laying on my heart the importance of praying for my brothers and the young men in my life.  They will be the leaders in this next generation.  The will have huge responsibility.  And it is my privilege, to lift them before my Father; to ask God to make and shape them into mighty men that He can use.  We have the power, through prayer, to change the lives of our brothers.

Of course there are a host of different things to pray, but praying scripture is very powerful, so here is a list of a couple of them.

  • Colossians 1:9-12
  • Philippians 1:9-11
  • Ephesians 3:16-21
  • Psalm 119:33-40

Think how God could use the guys in our life?  Think of the potential!  And think how YOU can further that; if you are faithful to pray!

"Therefore let all the faithful pray to You while You may be found..." Psalm 32:6a

Snowboarding...yes, I love it!

Winter just isn't winter without a trip to Mt. Crescent's ski hill...but of course not to go skiing but to go SNOWBOARDING!!

Betsy has a season pass this year and has been trying to get my out on the slope since November.  And believe me it hasn't been a lack of interest on my part that has prevented it!

It can be a little expensive to go seeing as though you have to rent the gear and pay for a lift ticket.  Expensive unless you know someone who was converted to skiing and has an "extra" snowboard that isn't getting much use...and just happens to be your size!

Trust me, it's FUN!

Friendship

Have you ever just stopped and thought about something?  Mulled it around and around in your head until you have come up with some conclusion, or until it leaves your mind to be thought of again at a later date?  Or maybe something is just so wonderful that it's a pleasure to reflect on, and it produces happy smiles and joy!

I do!

And lately I have been thinking about friends (maybe I'll do some more posts on other thought-provoking thoughts:)  I read this quote and realized how true it really is;

"Associate yourself with men of good quality if you esteem your own reputation for 'tis better to be alone than in bad company." - George Washington

I am so grateful to God for the friends that He has given me!  They spur me on, they challenge me in my walk with God.  They push me to the next level.  They let me talk their ear off.  They write me sweet notes.  They love me for who I really am.  They choose to see the good instead of focusing on the bad.  They share from their own life what God is teaching them.

It caused me to think "what kind of friend am I?"  Am I impacting those in my life for God's glory?  Or am I using them to accomplish my own purposes?

So ask yourself the question "What kind of friend are you?"  And thank God for the friends that He has placed in your life...they are a treasure!

Go Creighton!

Basketball!  It's something I've grown up with.  For years, going to tournaments, watching games, rehashing every shot, discussing every bad call, reliving those stellar moments, cheering myself hoarse...made up a large portion of my fall schedule!  So as a result I understand and enjoy basketball quite a lot, so when my sister needed someone to take her and a friend to the Creighton basketball game, at the Quest Center, I was only too happy to volunteer!

I love the whole experience of going to a big game.  My favorite is those tight games where the house is totally packed and it's close, down to the very last minute, and if you're lucky you get a buzzer shot that determines the game!

Esther has been following Creighton basketball quite closely this year, so if you need to know any information on their team just ask her!  This was kind of a bummer of a game to go to.  Creighton didn't play very well and gave up the game, and the stands were fairly empty...but it was still fun!

It was a "white out" game and so all the fans wore white...

Maybe next time they'll win...
